as i wrote in my poem whenever/wherever, i am praying for everyone and this morning, these people flowed into my heart silently and imploringly, filled my heart with the sound of their la ilaha illallah, the feeling of their longing for the One, for as-Salaam, for peace, true, deep, sweet, tangible peace, for wandering no more, metaphorically or literally, in a virulently islamophobic world, they flowed into my heart, they sang to me, they chanted to me, knowing that they were not everyone In addition to muslims of iraq, palestine, syria, syrian refugees, iraqi refugees, palestinian refugees, nigerian kidnapped young women, prison-industrial complex muslims, muslims of myanmar who are daily being massacred, queer muslims, trans muslims, muslims with disabilities, muslims of ethiopia, muslims of somalia and its diaspora, isolated muslims, scared muslims (and with reason) we are all just trying to fast and pray when, in fact, we are expected to never survive, as auntie audre lorde said. forget us not in your iftâr, in your tarawîh, in your sahur. forget us not when you go to sleep and when you awake. forget us not: in each shahr-i ramazan mübarek, remember us forget not those of us who are on death-row, awaiting execution; forget not and pray for those of us who have been sold to other people; forget not those of us of whom you have never dreamed for we are the people of worlds so unknown to you that you do not even know that we exist but wherever you are and whatever you have not imagined, we are there forget us not in your FB, Twitter, Tumblrs, etc.. forget us not in your silence, forget us not in your la ilaha illallah... my heart expands with each breath, with each nanosecond la ilaha illallah https://youtube/watch?v=ffHr6nI1wio
