as many of you know 1wk ago today we lost our calf barn to fire, we lost around 80 or so babies, a skid steer, and a truck. The good news is 20 babies made it out alive which is a miracle with how bad the fire was, It has be a very busy week for all in making room for the new babies to come in the barn at the main farm, fence needed to be built to to put the 40 or so steers out to pasture to make room for a temporary calf barn. Ground work is being done for a bigger manure storage at the heifer facility and soon we will be starting the new calf barn. Our farm employees have been great, Megan and Andy did great with the situation last sunday and have been working extra all week to get things done. The girls have been helping too anywhere they can and Rj also. We have brought a couple of kitties to the house as we thought that was all that was left but looks like most of the cats are accounted for. Thanks goes out to everyone who has called, sent a card or just stopped by to show your support, you have all been amazing. Thanks to the Corinna Fire department as well, you are such a great asset to our town. If I have forgotten anyone who has helped us in anyway please know that we are grateful for all of you. Farmers seem to be one of the strongest people out there who can jump right back in their work and make things work out despite the challenges that we face everyday. Remember to thank your local farmer for all that they do for you and the world!
