....day 3 ....Christmas Eve and bizarrely my sister & brother in law are on a Canary Island Cruise which moored in Arrecife today .......so we met up ........... after going to collect our bikes ...and cycle the 5 miles to get back to Arricefe ...........a strange holiday feel with quite a few group singsongs in restaurants .............. children in fancy dress .......... people in Santa (sorry Papa Noel) hats ........ wise men puppets climbing up ropes .......... shops which usually closed in the afternoon stayed open and later ......... and supermarkets selling cannabis absinthe the restaurant we went to for lunch ....having had an amazing meal a couple of days ago (including a tuna, sesame, dates & macademea nut dish which looked like a Lanzarote volcano) ...being .......less than customer focussed ....arriving an hour before food was served (1pm ......even though menus were on display) we had a couple of drinks ....soaked up the sun .....1pm came............and went ....after much arm waving ......we had our random tapas experience .......including a 30 minute gap between portions being brought out .....perhaps the staff had genuine concerns for our digestion ........plus we did as the locals having a leisurely long lunch .........followed by a big siesta ........ now time to get dressed up and sample Christmas Eve partying .............Canarian style ......
