(dreaming with your eyes open) I have the luxury every day of coming to my job and dreaming. When I was in High School dreaming was not considered an asset, as a matter of fact it was a wholesale liability. I went to a great school and they didn’t do anything wrong, it’s just that I don’t think I was built to sit in a room and learn in that way. I was the guy that if you came and took a picture of the whole classroom, everybody would be looking forward and I would be looking out the window. I was classified as a ‘day dreamer’, you know, the kind of student that was bored and had trouble focusing. Essentially, I am the same person now as I was then, and I do the same thing now than I did then, but I am much better regarded. I still get bored easily, I find myself not sitting in one place for too long, and I still day dream but I call it ‘dreaming with my eyes open.’ Turns out that this kind of dreaming (or thinking) can get you labeled as somebody that has vision and is futuristic. Somebody might even say that you are very entrepreneurial, and ask you what’s the secret pathway to getting there? ‘You have to think outside the box’ they say! OK-OK, I can agree with that being a part of it… But, that’s just ‘day dreaming’ …..Right? (just let the kid dream)
