for quite a while i was researching halloween costumes that would incorporate my chair. but in my research, i either found costumes for cute little kids or costumes that were cool but elaborately hid the wheelchair with some sort of disguise. i didnt want to hide my chair, i wanted to center my chair and show off my wheels. but i didnt find anything to model. let alone pictures of strong, beautiful folks who were showing off their mobility devices. which is why i decided to be Hotwheels this halloween. i didnt want to hide my wheels but show them off and be visible. So i write this status for those use any type of mobility-related devices, that we can be whatever we want for Halloween and incorporate all parts of who we are. dress it up and be visible. but we need more models of this, so if you felt beautiful, hott, scary, spooky, or just damn good this Halloween - post a picture so next year we can all have more models to incorporate our wheels, canes, walkers, crutches, etc. If you post, please use the hashtag #DisabilitySolidarity Also, shout to out all of the folks who played a part in making this years costume a success- Emmett Patterson for brainstorming, Rie for your art, and Izzy for putting it all together with me. It really does take a village, and so lets make sure that all our disabled sisters, brothers, and siblings feel their village every halloween.
