With the cold front offshore during the day Monday, the only lingering showers will be across parts of western Pennsylvania, Upstate New York and northern New England. Breezy northwest winds will usher in cooler air with highs from the 50s and 60s from the mountains westward to the 70s from Down East Maine to Virginia. South | View Regional Video - Much of the region will be dry today. - A southbound cold front will pop a few thunderstorms from the southern Appalachians and Tennessee Valley to Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. - Scattered thunderstorms, some with locally heavy rainfall, will linger across the remainder of west Texas and along the Rio Grande. - Also, scattered thunderstorms will linger along the Carolina coast and from the I-4 corridor southward in Florida. - Highs will peak in the 80s and low 90s, except 70s in far west Texas. - The cold front settles into the southern parts of the region Monday with only a stray shower or thundershower for the most part. The thunderstorms become less numerous in western Texas. Locally heavy showers and thunderstorms could target central and southern Florida. Midwest | View Regional Video - As the cold front heads for the Northeast, a few severe thunderstorms could still develop in Ohio and eastern Kentucky before the front exits the region Sunday afternoon. - Meanwhile, showers and a few thundershowers will linger around the Great Lakes. - High pressure will be in control of most of the region with dry conditions west of the Mississippi. - Highs will range from the upper 40s and low 50s across Upper Michigan to the 70s in the Plains and near 80 degrees from southern Kansas to Kentucky. - From out of the West, showers and a few thunderstorms will begin to advance into southern South Dakota, Nebraska and western Kansas Monday while the remainder of the region will be dry under high pressure.
