guinealynx.info/forums/viewtopic.php?t=71164 A serious risk we should all consider when making/buying hay bags for our guinea pigs. Although I do make hay bags (not with grommets), I always stand by the fact that guinea pigs prefer their hay in big messy piles. Yes, this may not be the preferred option for us owners who like to keep everything neat and tidy. However, providing big heaps of hay is 100% the best way to provide unrestricted hay 24/7 - just the way it should be as hay is by far the most important part of a guinea pigs diet and should make up 80% of all they eat. Using litter trays/a separate cage level for the hay is a great way of stopping it spreading all over the cage. The use of hay bags should only be to provide a secondary source of hay (perhaps as somewhere they can stop off at to have an extra nibble or go to if the boss pig is being particularly greedy!). If you are worried about hay bags and your guinea pigs, play it safe and do not purchase them.
