h.S.m..(happy Saturday morning..) The son of famous ( and jazz) photographer Lee Friedlander cellist Erik Friedlander, who’s worked with John Zorn, Sylvie Courvoisier, and Mark Feldman in the past, here with his band Bonebridge .So it’s the cellist with guitarist Doug Wamble plus bassist Trevor Dunn and drummer Michael Sarin.The group was originally conceived in tribute to Oscar Pettifords cello experiments—which were undertaken in 1949 when the legendary bassist played the smaller instrument while recovering from a baseball injury. Refraining from bowing, Friedlander employs an overdone pizzicato technique on the ensembles self-titled debut (2011), finding supple concordance with slide guitarist Doug Wambles one . Their mutual affinity for bluegrass, country and folk styles infuses the tuneful session with an air of bucolic Americana. Waiting to listen their recent effort Nighthawks.....
