hart celebrated 10 rescue years on June 15 and hart was able to witness many special moments that were captured by our lovely volunteer photographers. Special Moment 5 Salty was rescued from a northern community and came in with substantial injuries to his body (you can read his list of injuries in the paragraph posted below). He joined all of the other dogs in the hart festivities and his smiling face brought joy to all of the hart supporters. September 2013: Salty is no youngster as his teeth are worn completely down and he has what is assumed to be an age-related lump on his chest. He looks to be a rotti x shepherd who is extremely underweight. He has diarrhea and numerous skin lesions, which are both being treated. His right front paw is missing two toes - perhaps from being caught in a trap. His right rear leg suffered trauma some time ago resulting in a severe dislocation of his hip. He has been compensating by raising his leg and his muscles have shortened. Once he is stable, he will go under aneasthetic to explore if the damage is repairable, or if he will lose his leg. He is intact, so when he is under he will be neutered. He has pellets in his damaged rear leg as well as one of his testicles.
