i was sitting in kuwait to return to the states. i was on the standby list to return home on 10 dec. so i 9 dec i went to the shopping area, took in a movie, grabed something to eat. sent a message to the family stating that i would be taking to them for a couple of days. at 1800 hrs everyone on the 10 dec flight was locked down. we moved our baggage over to the terminal office. we sat there waiting for our names, finally someone came out and said everyone is on the flight in the morning. so we went through customs, and loaded our bags into the truck. it was 2100 hrs of the 9th and the flight wasnt until 0200 on the 10th, so we sat. we were loaded and taken out to the aircraft. only to find out our plane had departed for colorado springs 10min before. there was a problem in getting fuel for the extra bodies, then a problem with food. once everything was fixed, there was an issue with the 2 military working dogs, the airline said that this flight was for gis only. once they were told that gi was government issue they were allowed to fly with us. as we boarded the aircraft the pilot asked if there was anything we wanted, just to be informed of being in american airspace. as we got near phillie, the pilot told us we were x miles from new york city, boston, and washington. and he added one extra fact, we had been in american airspace for the last hours. when we touched down at mcguire afb new jersey, they were surprise to see a bunch of army soldiers deplane, they were expecting cargo, not marching cargo.
