im sprawled on the paved circular drive of the devereux baptist - TopicsExpress

im sprawled on the paved circular drive of the devereux baptist church, sleepless in sparta, sweating profusely, road - weary, under the influence of two beers too many, too little sleep, and the revelations of my shadow i had to endure while laying rubber on the road back across the country. the latter end of *year zero*, my favorite NI|/| cd is spinning and i notice how well it matches my moodstate of mind and the tension under which i came into possession of the *tension tour* t-shirt im wearing like a badass with boots designed for stealth getaways. the tasers safety is off, ready to take on the foe, for the foe is out here, but im not afraid. something just bit me, twice, and both legs are bloody. if i had ashes, i would heap them on my head and on the steeple piercing heaven behind my back. a bite recount reveals greater severity to the condition of my legs and i want to scream, so im pretending theres plaid duct tape over my mouth and smoking in spite of it. sometimes life really sucks and bites and hurts, but the beauty and necessity of agony is now firmly cemented in my psyche. how can we know light without darkness, joy without sorrow, pleasure without pain? but i digress. its under the backdrop of all this mellow drama that im going to breathe and respond to a post by Sarah Still, who shared the 10 most influential books shes read and tagged me to do the same. so here we go, in no particular order, as the cows moo over music and dis-ease under a waning moon (in my periphery i can see that its still red). 1. *breakfast of champions*: Kurt Vonnegut (by default this amazingly includes *the sirens of titan*, *god bless you, mr. rosewater*, *slaughterhouse five*, and so on....) 2. *siddartha*: herman hesse 3. the rand mcnally road atlas 4. the bible (by default also includes the dead sea scrolls, the writings of josephus, the sumarian scripts, petroglyphs, the quadrivium, hebrew, greek, aramaic and arabic translations, and so on....) moo 5. *kingdom of fear*: hunter s. thompson 6. *green eggs and ham*: dr. suess 7. *the doors of perception*: aldous huxley. (hungry, finally) 8. a biography of albert einstein, title and author long-forgotten. (by default this...oh, nevermind) 9. *man and his symbols*: carl jung 10. *alice in wonderland*: lewis carroll. (thus shall we speak of default nevermore) so now i think ill tag Cole Nye Roberts, Mariah Hunt, Uriel Joseph, Nova Atom Hedron, Spirit Windwalker, Shiloh Weber, and Aufbrezeln Eschaton.
