. . . is driven insane by elected officials across the USA who batter their opposition over the heads with the Constitution, the Constitution, we need to adhere to the US Constitution, and yet, and then: when a state or federal court rules that a particular state law - a law those elected officials passed and/or endorsed - must be struck down because it is not supported by the language or intent of the US Constitution: those same officials are suddenly all, How dare we be told to stick to the Constitution! Witness Arizona Governor Jan Brewers response to U.S. District Court Judge John Sedwicks striking down as unconstitutional Arizonas ban on gay marriage: “It is not only disappointing, Governor Brewer said, but also deeply troubling, that unelected federal judges can dictate the laws of individual states, create rights based on their personal policy preferences and supplant the will of the people in an area traditionally left to the states for more than two hundred years. Lies and mendacity! To quote Big Daddy. Whats that smell in this room? Didnt you notice it, Brick? Didnt you notice a powerful and obnoxious odor of mendacity in this room?... There aint nothin more powerful than the odor of mendacity... You can smell it. It smells like death.
