it is very hard to tell what is for real on the internet and what is for fake. For people who are not in the music industry; there is a secret society where a handshake costs more than the song cost to record. One example of what is for real is our SSR song Cool it. Not a cent has been spent on PR, all plays and views have been generated exclusively by people who like the music or are interested in it. All the blogs that have featured our music have done it because they like it, that, to me is extremely important. Thankfully we have Benjii Jackson doing a stellar hustle with us and has managed to get it to the right people in the UK and has been employing the same tactics we have been doing in NZ. It would be nice to see the PR game become more organic and work parallel with music, at the moment there are too many people wanting to get paid in the industry yet somehow have forgotten, or are pretending to not notice, that musicians are not getting paid anymore for sales from their music like they used to. That said, there are people out there running blogs that do work alongside musicians and artists and that is awesome. Cool It has been a test for us as a band and for my label From The Crate Records to see if a song can still create interest if there is zero dollars spent on PR. A song should connect organically not be forced in peoples faces just because $$ have been thrown around. I think we have achieved this. It is also thanks to the radio stations that have backed us and accepted our personal emails pushing our music. Rant over for the day... Thanks for listening, we have an album out soon, woo! (I just have to finish it)
