it was 14 degrees here today so i thought i would head out to the bear river refuge to see what i could find. i was hoping to see rough legs but didnt see any but i did see some avocets and other waterbirds i didnt expect to see this late in the year and being so cold. i thought i would never see avocets on the ice but i did today. I saw some long billed curlews, white faced ibiss and avocets...all should have been long gone by now i would have thought. the refuge is almost completely frozen up now.
