joaquin is six months old! Half a year has passed since he came into this world. Of course its been amazing. Its been incredible. In the past 6 months our baby has grown a ton, emotionally and physically, and were so thrilled to celebrate his half month. So, … joaquin Happy 6 months baby! Its been a long time since Ive had 6 little months change my life as much as the past 6 have changed joaquins.. In a six month period, my son has learned to breathe, cry, eat, sleep, smile, laugh, kick, roll over, squeal, shake toys, grab things with his hands, bounce his little body, sit quietly in his crib, eat rice cereal and few vegetables, grab Mommys hair, rip off titas glasses, coo at lolas pet a dog, sit mostly on his own, look at picture books, and find his favorite toy- his binky attached to a pacifier – and put it in his mouth for comfort. I can look at him sometimes and I feel like I can see him learning. Weve come a long way in six months. Weve had some challenges to overcome, and weve had some really fun and easy times, too. However, were getting the hang of things. Hes growing, and hes learning, and hes the light of our lives. Its easy to get caught up with the race for infant development milestones, and I know Im guilty of comparing joaquins achievements to the infant development chart. Hes been progressing beautifully, and has very normal baby development. Ive never been so fond of the word normal as I am now. I am beyond thrilled for him to be normal! There are a lot of exciting things coming up for him. In addition to fully being able to sit on his own, six month milestones include being able to pull himself up to a standing position (with help), roll over both ways, and possibly starting to scoot or crawl (possibly backwards). Hell be able to sip some water and play with a few toys for babies 6 months and over that weve been saving for this month. Hell probably cut his first teeth shortly. Walking isnt that far down the path, either (though Im in no hurry for that milestone – of course I want him to walk, but in good time … one year old sounds great to me for that one!). As opposed to just infant development milestones, Im rather impressed with how far weve come as a family. My mama ans sister, my son and I are getting along great. Were developing a rhythm to our days and weeks. Were balancing our family time, work time, and down time. Were getting the hang of feeding and changing and running errands and enjoying our time together whenever we can. Parenthood was quite overwhelming at first, and I think it even took some time for joaquin to get used to us and this great big world. Things feel more natural now. We still have a lot to learn … an unbelievable amount to learn, actually … but were getting the hang of being a family. Happy 6 months, baby joaquin. We are so proud of you. We cant wait to see what your future holds.
