last night I took a walk around my very quiet neighborhood. It was the quietest the neighborhood has ever been in my memory, most apartments empty, stores closed and shuttered. I saw two Christmas tree corpses near Gramercy park! One was fresh, like new!! People rent their places for the holidays and leave for elsewhere.....there will be many more corpses in subsequent days. Three homeless men huddled alone in three different locations. I was on a hunt for milk and had to shop at CVS. I got some sandwiches and passed them to the men along with the few bucks I could spare. I felt a little sad. Why so much despair out there?
