#ltlendahand As I said, not a ton of photos. I was very busy during the day. I also didnt great any shots of the continuous ruin we drove by to get to Caretta, WV. We were in a convoy on a narrow mountain road and there was no place to stop. Nonetheless, this is Caretta. Pretty much all of it. Its nicer than many things we drove past, but we needed a building to set up in, and this building was available. Check captions for details. Final note: this trip changed my perspective on poverty, at least in Appalachia. I used to read statistics about poverty in the U.S. that said things like 80% if the poor have air conditioning, 50% have a playstation or equivalent, and two thirds have cable TV or satellite. I would couple that with studies on the obesity problem amongst the poor. It led me to believe that American poor were better off than the middle class in many foreign countries. At least I thought they had opportunities, even if started as a french fry cook at McDonalds. If you are like I was, put those notions aside when it comes to Appalachia. There are no opportunities. Its a different world than the slum fifteen minutes from your house.
