matt malloy does some really amazing photography. since i got this from Facebook i am thinking a lot of you have already seen this. i have been digging deeper into how this works and had already been doing some research on timed photography and some of that actually goes hand in hand with this. its normal for me to shoot over 1000 pictures in a hour or so at a PW but i have never taken hundreds of pictures of one thing just to meld them together to create one. i have the batch processing in photoshop figured out so that will be a huge time saver. i did a little texting with this guy to get some ideas on camera settings so even tho that will vary i have a starting point. his color photography is unique to say the least and as always i try to imagine what my pictures will look like in infrared but that is usually a waste of time as they seem to have a mind of their own. one of my conclusions to that is - the sun doesnt emit a constant even flow of infared. on some summer days i can get a variable of effects from the sky that ranges from jet black to brilliant yellow and oranges. one of the reasons i have been exploring the idea of timed exposures is in the winter there seems to be plenty of visible light but the infared looks dull and no matter how hard i work on it i really cant get the brilliant highlights i do in the summer. i got to thinking by using longer exposures i might be able to correct that problem then this guy and his stacking of pictures came along and to me it opened a whole new bunch of questions that i have not tried yet. at the bottom of this page are some links to other unique photography. some really talented people out there. thisiscolossal/2013/04/smeared-skies-made-from-hundreds-of-stacked-photographs-by-matt-molloy/
