#minimumwage #foodforthought #forwardthinking I can not understand how people saying raising the minimum wage would destroy the country. Raise the minimum wage, and the poor will have more money to spend. Right now the lower class is spending all of their money paying their bills to survive. Now lets be honest, the lower and middle class are not all money smart. I have been guilty myself of splurging when we get a few extra dollars. So we raise the minimum wage, the poor have money to pay their bills and then some. Can the people who think it would destroy the country honestly say that the poor spending more money at the store, buying toys for the kids, eating out more, buying a new car and pumping more money into local businesses would cause the economy to crash? If people are buying more, then demand goes up, if demand goes up, supply has to meet it. To meet the supply the businesses will have to hire more people or give more overtime to meet said demand. Raising the minimum wage to bring people out of poverty would also mean no more food stamps and government aid, saving tax payers a TON. Tell me again how this is a bad thing? I just cannot see the logic behind the other sides argument. So leave the wages as is. People have no money to buy and stimulate the economy. Tax payers continue to support the poor who are working 2 or more jobs and still qualify for food stamps. How does this help everyone? If you are rich, and own a small or large business, would you not rather have more people able to afford to buy your stuff, making you more rich? And of course there is a few that say we should get rid of the minimum wage. This would help the rich, but only for a very short time. Lets be honest again, the only reason we have a minimum wage at all is because too many people want to pay the workers as little as possible so they can have a few extra dollars in their pocket. So you take away the power of the average family to purchase, how do you think this will help your business out? supply=demand If the average family can not create a demand, what do you think will happen to those trying to supply? Feel free to share this, just something I felt like sharing.
