#nittconfession ***Alumini Confession*** #Real incidence in my life and I don’t want to disclose names. I had been to London to do my MBA and there I met a special person and he has changed my life completely. He has passed away recently. When I went to London for studying ,I learn that he is interested on Indian culture and was very eager to know more things about our culture .First I was in a dilemma weather to make friendship with a unknown person that to too far away for my motherland and who want to know many things about India. It was like liking a picture of a person before sending them a friend request. So I used to answer him hesitatingly and soon we became good friends. We used to live in a apartment along with three others of our country. Once I was looking at my childhood pictures and he came there and I showed him my childhood photos and the first question he asked “Why do you people wear jeans when you have Khadi clothes or any other clothes”. I ask why do u wear? “Because England has very cool temperatures so in order to protect ourselves from cold temperatures we use them”. He could answer my question but I could not answer. One thing that surprised me was the word “Khadi” I was not familiar about that at that time and the only thing that I know was long ago Ghandiji used them. He used to ask many things about our traditions and the first question he asked me was “why do you apply turmeric on wounds”, I said that it was just a superstition and was only source available in a house. He did not accept that and got clarification from some other person and he gave the explanation that it acts like antiseptic and prevents infection. At that movement I decided to know more about our country and traditions and started talking about our tradition with my mother on skype clarifying my doubts, I used to note doubts and clarify periodically, I read many scared text living in London. How strange it is ?? Once I got a doubt and asked him that why he was more interested on India. He said that he was going through all the nations which were ruled by British and was very amazed about India with its varied heritage and main thing “Unity in Diversity”. He said “ I’ll visit India and if possible I’ll stay back”.He learn speaking Hindi so that he can easily get information about our country and living in our country would be more comfortable. Mean while I finished my MBA ,frankly speaking I was not interested to stay back like many other Indians,I returned my motherland along with my friend, First thing he did when we landed in India was , he kissed our motherland like some cricketer does when they cross some milestones. We along with my family went on pilgrimage and saw famous places and after 7 days my family members returned home but we were still on pilgrimage and then he took out a list of places to be visited and I was shocked to see the list as it contains many places which I was not familiar about and we started our journey after some days he said “ You can go back home if you are not interested “,but how can I ? When a person from other country loves our country then why can’t I ,so we visited many places and you may even don’t know them even if I say about them , we spent about 45 days roaming all over India. Some days later he said he was going to meet a swamiji and he learn Sanskrit and he started learning Vedas and after about 4 months he returned back and we along with our family visited Kasi to some rituals of my grand father. The next day morning I did not find my friend in our room and after searching for him I returned to our room and saw a letter which was actually SUICIDE note of my friend , it stated “ Knowing more about god is only possible if we take birth in holy BHARATH and I want to take birth in this holy land at least in my next life, so I’m sacrificing my life in divine GANGA “he ended. And one thing I want to share with you is that we are INDIANS by birth and we don’t know about its significance and I hope this bad situation of learning about our country from a foreigner will not arise in your case,so please know about your country. Follow our traditions. JAI HIND!! #NITT Batch of 1993
