nothing adds up... foreign relief organizations are starting to pull out of here and theres worry about the growing dependence on relief goods. There are sectors claiming to have no source of income due to the absence of available jobs, but until now I still see a lot of roofs unrepaired (mine included); construction and repair is very slow and contractors are complaining about the lack of manpower. Many fisherfolks have already gone back to sea in their newly built boats, and farmers should be harvesting soon, if they havent done so yet. There is a need to gather data of people affected by the typhoon - their current location, and if they are working or actively looking for work. If they had jobs before the typhoon, are their previous jobs still available considering that business establishments are already on the rebuilding and recovery phase? People need to be told that the P500-a-day cash for work was only a stop gap solution to jump start the economy and cannot be considered as a baseline figure. It is not sustainable. From the bottom looking up at the top, there have been too many meetings but action is severely lacking. There is no lack of donors nor funding, which leads me to believe that somebody is sitting on the necessary paperwork to get things rolling. With all those consultants around, there shouldnt be any excuse unless those consultants are being utilized to do grunt work.
