ok... so parents... here is a reality check for ya.. age 10.... yes.. 10.. Ballet is getting more and more technical and perfect. Children are becoming technique machines. This girl is the one in 10,000 who will actually do this.. Keep a backup plan in place. Make sure your child doesnt miss sleepovers, prom, etc... because... the variables are ... body, change of heart, change of financial situation and drive, as well as the fact that jobs are now going to kids all over the world. Boston Ballet boasts that their company is made up of dancers from 17 countries. Those jobs are not available to the thousands of ballet students here in our country. Just a note of reality as you move your student forward. Be real, dont take anything for granted and make education a priority. Do not let your student tell you they dont want to graduate High School .. or that they dont have time. Make time. Parents... you hold the check book... use your judgement. A win at a competition or two, and getting accepted into a good summer intensive ... is not a profession. It will not lead to a profession.. be aware of that. It is a very expensive summer camp experience. That is all..
