part of a series of short nation-related poems for use when meeting-and-greeting an audience (Holland) (version 1 ~ suggestions welcome) "van Gogh is a pain in the ass" Your van Gogh is a pain in the ass, and I don’t mean his pictures, which might pass muster, cos how would I know what’s good, bad, or so-so, cos I’m certainly no judge of art’s class. But every artist whose work is most foul, or musician who sings like dogs howl, claims “They said Vincent was mad, and his paintings were bad, but he’s hailed as a genius now.”
