please everyone, just take a moment to read this post, i hate to post things lke this , but now seems quite serious, this has been copied from another post so please excuse the length , but worth a read...................................................... Hello everyone. Not sure if any of you remember my opening post a few weeks ago introducing myself. But to remind those who did and any new people reading this I am one of the victims of having my business closed down due to breech of copyright. I ran my page for quite some time, had so many likes/followers and orders I couldnt keep up with myself most of the time (mainly selling on E-bay). Anyway cutting to the chase I was closed down, my page removed without warning, and completely banned from E-bay, and taken to court. I have visited the courts a total of 3 times regarding this and the final hearing was this Monday where I have been fined £900, and ALL of my stock removed from my possession including my sewing machine, crafting scissors (how silly is that?) and my PC. (luckily I have a laptop that I use for my Novels which they could not take from me. This IS a SERIOUS matter and I want to make people aware that when the admins of groups like these warn people about the breech of copyright they are not doing it to be nasty but to warn you of the seriousness of it all. Just so people are aware of what I was selling I sold hair accessories and a few other bits and bobs on the side using character ribbons and fabrics (not just Disney but Hello Kitty, 1 Direction, Peppa Pig, Thomas Tank Engine, Minions, Lala Loopsy and much more), flat backs, bottle cap images too. Yes there are MILLIONS of people selling these and I see lots of you on here selling Disney and other character items and some of you may not be aware of the breeching of copyright and some of you are aware and are just point blankly refusing to listen and carrying on to make some pocket money as a lot of you mention. I am lucky enough to be in a financial state to be able to pay the £900 fine, and am happy to pay for the mistakes I did as I was genuinely unaware. I was told by my supplier that they were perfectly fine to use and to resell. (but they of course was not). This is a warning to others using characters images whether its crayons, ribbons, fabrics, flat backs, drawings etc PLEASE PLEASE make sure you hold a LICENCE and contact your local trading standards where they can point you in the right direction of where to obtain them. (some companies will not issue them out to anyone, you have to go through a series of tests) I have put this all behind me now and am now focusing on my novels I have been worry for the essay but I wanted to make sure people are aware of the seriousness, whether anyone chooses to read this, listen and take it in is down to them, but wanted to show proof in what people say when it can lead to a fine, and can also lead to a prison sentence if carried on after (which I do not intend doing). The judge also made me aware that purchasing goods from an UNLICENSED business can lead to trouble and to advise me before purchasing to ask if the seller has the licence to be trading the items before buying. This not only includes those who sell the ribbons, fabrics etc in the first place but those like me who sold the hair bows and other items that could be in breech of copyright.
