According to him, this includes “sensitivity to the plight of those who are less fortunate to ensure the reformation of social structures that perpetuate poverty and the exclusion of the poor.” The Holy Father said the tradition of leaders listening to the plight of the poor is found in the Bible, saying that it “bids us break the bonds of injustice and oppression which give rise to glaring, and indeed scandalous, social inequalities,” Pope Francis said.
