Afternoon Report for Santa Cruz: New, solid, long period W swell continues to fill in. Waves are in the head high+ range at many exposures, while deep water standouts see inconsistent sets up into the triple OH range. Winds have spun around from the W now, making for a bit of texture in the conditions at W exposed spots. Tide peaked at a 5.46 at 12:06pm slowing things down, but now drops to a negative after dark. The surf is going to be very powerful all day. Exercise great caution if you go in the ocean Short-Term Forecast for Santa Cruz: Surf gets bigger and more consistent all day. High tide at mid day swamps a few breaks. Winds look to stay mostly light.
