t.co/BPZKpB6PIs - #WORLDCup2014 3rd Placing Match UPDATE FULL-TIME: #BRAZIL 0 #NETHERLANDS 3 ( Van Persie 3, Blind 17, Wijnaldum 90’) Another uninspiring display by the hosts as they fail to recover from their shock 1-7 defeat to #Germany in the semi-final to finish fourth in the tournament with yet another loss. The potent attacking duo of Robin van Persie and Arjen Roben started in a relatively unchanged Dutch side, and it didn’t take long for them to open their goalscoring account as they were rewarded a penalty in the third minute when Robben was unceremoniously tugged from behind by captain Thiago Silva en route to goal. Brazil were fortunate not to be a man down as Silva was only shown a caution. Van Persie stepped up and converted from the spot and it was all Netherlands from that point on. Less than 15 minutes later, the OnsOranje added another from a Daley Blind goal, courtesy of some horrendous Brazillian defending. The rest of the game showed some conviction from the Selecao but they lacked the decisive final ball against a resolute Dutch back line. Georginio Wijnaldum added insult to injury for the hosts in the final minute of normal time when he connected with a Daryl Janmaat cross to slot the ball past Julio Cesar for the third goal. Louis Van Gaal and his charges take home third place and leave Brazil in another ignominious defeat. (via TODAY Sports)
