talking to Will on the phone now from his home in Stockton, CA: Im happily retired. Ive been playing for over 60 years -- with America for 41 years. I want to personally thank each and every one of you for keeping me going -- as you can imagine, its a grind on the road and the one thing that made it all worth it to me was being able to meet up with all my new and old friends and fans along the way. It was quite a lot for a kid from Iowa who didnt see the ocean until he was 23 years old to be able to play at Radio City, Carnegie Hall, the Tonight Show, the David Letterman Show, and inside the crater at Diamond Head. I have 7 Gold Records on the wall, a couple of platinum and more on the way. I got to work with George Martin (the Beatles producer), the Beach Boys -- especially Carl Wilson who was good friend, Phil Spector, and countless others. I want to thank Gerry and Dewey for all these years of playing together, traveling the world, (over 150 countries) umpteen world tours in towns and cities a boy from Iowa never knew existed. The comradery and experiences we shared together is enough to last us all lifetimes. . Whats in store for me now: I want to find my golf game again, play some pool, relax, catch up on the night life in Stockton (yes, there is nightlife around here!), watch TV, do my laundry, vacation in the midwest: KC, Shenandoah, Iowa in the next month and also will try and write down all my stories of traveling with America for those 41 years and release a book someday! In the last month Ive received over 500 calls from people and I hope to return all those calls from all the well wishers as soon as things settle down a little. Just because Im no longer playing drums with the band doesnt mean you should stop seeing America as I know you love their music as much as I do. We separated on friendly terms and I only wish them the best. And to you, all the people Ive met through the years, you mean so much to me and Im taking all the time I need now to think back on all those memories and good times we had together. I love you!
