thanks to everyone who supports me.....I just received this email: Congratulations! Your work has been selected by the Santa Fe Arts Commission to be included in the Summer 2014 CHAIRS exhibit featuring functional, sculptural, traditional and modern chairs created by New Mexico artists. As a result of thoughtful consideration of numerous artists, your work will be featured with 27 other local artists. The exhibit will run tentatively from June through August 2014 with an opening reception on opening night from 5-7 pm. We hope that you will be able to participate in this exhibit and are also interested in attending the opening. Dates for that opening will be determined. If you haven’t been to the Gallery, I recommend you stop by to get a feel for the space and discuss with me the many installation opportunities we have that may include hanging objects from the ceiling, using pedestals and wall boxes, etc. While developing your submission, please provide for hanging/mounting in your design and delivery of the piece. Having hanging mechanisms in place upon delivery will ensure a more smooth and efficient installation process, which is very helpful for me. Since this is a primarily 3-D exhibit, there is a concern for floor space. Sculptural artists are recommended to consider alternative displays (wall display, hanging from the ceiling [up to 25 pounds], etc.) to preserve the limited number of pedestals and wall boxes we have available. Traditional furniture makers are encouraged to think of alternative and creative ways to display your work to make the exhibit more visually interesting. It is important to note that your selection was based upon your body of work and the faith of the Advisory Committee that you will submit well-crafted and beautiful work that will contribute to a stunning exhibit.
