the great debate: I know that two Memphians will be playing with Gregg Allman, which is wonderful and well deserved. Their presence and talent will give him depth and soul and his fame will make us all better. However, Ive watched some clips from the Allman Brothers FINAL run of shows and they dont compare with the ousted Dickey Betts and his band the Great Southern for singing, twin and triple harmony guitar parts, or sheer celebration of the music. Dickey wrote and sang the best material, and as he said the recent Allman Brothers was just a tribute band playing a lot of my material, but without him. Heres a fairly recent DBGS show>>> whats your take, if you care?
