the most rewarding moment of my life wasnt when I got adopted or when I fell in love for the first time, it wasnt when I gave birth to my children, nor was it when I got my first car or apartment nor when I graduate high school or when I graduated college with honors and a 4.0 GPA, it wasnt when I made the choice to love another child like my own or when I found out I was going to be the worlds youngest grandma; all of which where very rewarding and definite highlights in my life. However the most rewarding moment occurred when I was 14. I was at my rock bottom emotionally, by then I had been molested twice and raped nearly a dozen times. I had exhausted myself trying to find the secret to fitting in this world; a world quick to tell you what not to do, or how not to be. A world full of people that claimed they wanted to know what was going on inside you, yet they already labeled you, confined you, categorized you and medicated you attempting to make you fit, to get you to blend in when you were meant to stand out. I was a product of a lost generation tormented by silence and secrecy, ruled by image instead of integrity. That day was the most rewarding moment in my life because I fell in love with myself, I found peace when I realized the devil is a lie and he will use whatever means possible to try and steal my shine! The beginning of love is the will to let those we love be perfectly themselves, the resolution not to twist them to fit our own image. If in loving them we do not love what they are, but only their potential likeness to ourselves, then we do not love them: we only love the reflection of ourselves we find in them. So now I always remind myself to be so strong so that nothing can disturb my peace of mind. To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet. To make all my friends feel that there is something in them, to look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true. I remind myself to think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature I meet a smile. It is up to me to give so much time to the improvement of myself that I have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. My mission in life is to think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds. To live in faith that the whole world is on my side so long as I am true to the best that is in me.
