today i had JW banging on my door, now i am not a churchy person cos, to be honest i cannot understand a word that is said but in saying that my family links to our church are strong and i would not dream of changing a thing, it was where my grandparents both attended and thats important to me! so when JW came banging, i decided to turn the tables, and began telling them of IS and the destruction they have caused, i informed them of everything, including the fact that we would be marching again, Canberra on Wednesday, to demand a safe haven for the minorities suffering in Iraq and they told me that due to their beliefs they would not. It was disheartening hearing them say that despite the fact that they considered themselves christians and they took the time out of their day to bang on my door and that of my neighbours to talk religion, they would not be taking a day out of their lives to try and help their fellow christians in Iraq. they told me god says they cannot and tried to pull out a bible to show me the passage saying not to deal with the kingdom (apparently code for government in JW eyes). I told them god doesnt expect them to sit reading a book, when you see something wrong you must stand up and demand change, not hold a book in front of your chest as an excuse not to be involved!
