tonight a strange amazing thing happened. I had dinner with Jerry Harrison from Talking Heads. it was great catching up. we talked about so many things. hes a good friend. weve been friends what, since 1980?!! after dinner Jerry asked if I would drop him off at a new bar in town called the Tippler, where he was meeting some people. I went in with him to check it out. nice upscale place. they had a band playing. good band. there was an outdoor patio by where I was standing. the doors were open, a few couples out there. I walked out on the patio and looked across the street. wow! only then did I realize where I was. right across the street in 1978 I was playing in a bar there called Fannys when Frank Zappa walked in! a surreal moment. Fannys is long gone. there is a nice dog park there instead. and a tiny part of me lives there too.
