#tristatewx Our region was extremely fortunate last week to have been missed by the bulk of the severe weather activity. I dont know if most of you know how close we came to having a bigger event - a few ingredients did not come together to produce widespread damaging storms in our local counties. It was, however, a close call. As many of you know, one tornado did move into far southwest Kentucky from northwest Tennessee. We have been fortunate this spring to have only had a few severe weather reports in southern Illinois and western Kentucky. Now we have entered May and that means our peak time of the year for tornado activity. At this time, I am not forecasting any major severe weather threats for our region. I am watching a storm system for Thursday night into the weekend. This could bring some showers and locally heavy thunderstorms. The severe weather potential appears low. As always I will update if the forecast changes. I encourage you to have multiple avenues of information during periods of inclement weather. I will post several links in the comment section below. There are a number of local meteorologists that I encourage you to follow. All of them bring something a little bit different to the table. Here is a summary (from the Little Rock, Arkansas NWS) of some of the severe weather that occurred just southwest of our local counties. srh.noaa.gov/lzk/?n=svr0414c.htm Here is the story of one mother who lost two young boys in the EF4 Arkansas tornado event. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2619451/Mom-lost-two-kids-Arkansas-Tornado-touching-message-hope-wins-hearts.html
