via Bitahnnii Melanie Charlie I think the leaders are in fear of losing their positions because they cannot speak Navajo. Sounds like many are in support of English. I believe in leaders who speak Navajo. Knowing your language is having pride in your tribe. I tell people I am Navajo and they always ask me how to say words and I teach them. Then they ask about the movie wind talker. You mean the movie about the Navajo Code Talkers. They are so amazed that our Navajo language help the United States win the war. Then I tell them how the council delegates are trying to change the leaders requirements to speak Navajo. They are very interested in how it turns out while they disagree with the amendment to the Navajo fluency.
