well said Stephen. What most people tend to forget, their peace of mind to have a fully functional fire department properly staffed is not cheap. As more departments are asked to do more with less, pay should not be on the less list. As a Reserve Firefighter with a combination department, I see firefighters who go out of their way to ensure the community is protected day in/day out. As firefighters (same holds for EMS and police), we never know what dangers a call will present. I serve as I did in the military-l serve because the need is there. As with any profession, there will always be those who not of the same integrity and honor as the vast majority of firefighters who scarfice time with family to protect others. Keep up the good work.
