why is it that we are so often given the advice " follow ur heart"? the heart has a habbit of returning to the thing that has hurt it the most. the heart is forgiving and has no regaurd for reason or logic. wouldnt it make more sence to listen to the mind? ur mind would tell u that u should keep distance from things that cause u pain. not to tether urself to something filled with dangerous uncertainty. this is however what separates people from animals. not simply that we have the capacity for higher thought. it is that, even with greater intelligence, that we still forsake all reason to cling to something that our hearts want. even if we know that that things is bound to hurt us again. maybe animals are smarter than we give them credit for.
