with Cedric Hentsch, Brittany Hentsch and Kali Hentsch - 1st, thank you everyone for your calls, texts, thoughts, prayers and overall concern for Cedrics health. Its been an extremely long day. Here is what we know...Cedric rested fairly comfortably last night until about 3:30 when he became restless due to pain. His pain is located under his right ribcage next to his stomach. It became so painful at one point on the drive to Niles, he told me he was about to ask me to drive to the emergency room. However, we did not do that and went on to see Dr. Richards at his Niles office. Upon review of the CT scan and ultrasound that was done at Silver Cross Homer Emergency facility, there are numerous clusters of enlarged lymph nodes. Noticeably, one in particular that is about the size of a tennis ball (which is the one creating the most pain) and another about half that size a little lower, among others. The best way to find out what these enlarged lymph nodes consist of is to do a CT scan biopsy. This is done outpatient and will be done at Luthern General in Park Ridge - hopefully Monday or Tuesday of next week. We will not get the written results of that scan until probably the week after. It is Dr. Richards feeling that these nodes are cancerous - just what type of cancer remains to be determined after the biopsy. While he stopped short of saying they were melanoma, he didnt completely rule that out, but was also quick to say it very well could be another type of cancer. Until Cedric has the biopsy, Dr gave him some increased dosage of medicine to better control the pain. It is a wait and see game at this point. I do my best to answer as many questions I can in this little space, but its not really cut and dry sometimes. There is no prognosis, or course of treatment at this time - not until we know better what we have to battle. Again, we both thank you for your concern and prayers. It helps knowing we have a huge support network that stretches far and wide.
