with Nigeria having Eid Elfter on Sunday, five countries having it - TopicsExpress

with Nigeria having Eid Elfter on Sunday, five countries having it on Tuesday; Oman, Morocco, Gabon, Tanzania, Azerbaijan, and of course Oregon state, and all the remaining countries are having it on Monday, we have to find a better way that unite us, although it is a paradox. In Quran Allah (swt) says They ask you about the moons, say it is for timing and pilgrimage. And prophet Mohamed (saw) says Do not fast till you see the new moon, and do not break fast till you see it; but if the weather is cloudy calculate it. A month on Lunar calender will start, on most of the countries that depend on moon sighting if (1) The geocentric conjunction occurs before sunset -The New Moon (conjunction) occurs at all times of day and night (from a few minutes before the sunset to hours before and after it at Makkah), (2) The Moon sets after the Sun and of course you are able to see it - most of the difference comes in place here since it is not easy, if not impossible, to see the moon right after the sun set due to the atmosphere redness at that time. In USA, The Fiqh Council of North America recognizes astronomical calculation and they do not care about moon sighting making some folks following it while other go by moon sighting results in what we are having today. No Eid :(
