youtube/watch?v=BS0T8Cd4UhA Just like many of you out there, I grew up with Disney and saw the soft and oftentimes helpless protagonists as role models. Certainly the evil female characters were far more interesting than Snow White or Sleeping Beauty, girls who required princely assistance to survive the challenges set before them. As I got older and had my own daughters, I was thrilled that Disney heroines were becoming stronger and able to stand on their own two feet...Belle, Pocahontas, and especially Mulan were a new kind of empowered woman for a new kind of generation of girls who would leaders and not wallflowers. I loved to sing my girls to sleep, and now they are both musicians, besides many other things. We watched Frozen, loving the sisterly love and devotion it celebrated. Idina Menzel was unbelievable as the songstress and Let it Go stole the show with its power and her ability to reach for notes and sustain them, sending chills up my back. The link above will take you to a Disney site which gives us the song, sung by many incredibly talented women of many nations. Ill never stop loving Idina, but I cant help but celebrate the talent, beauty, and raw power of these remarkable singers. Brava to each and every one of you and bravo to Disney for getting it right.
