খাতেমান নাবুওাত ও অলায়েত ঘোষণা এবং বায়াত গ্রহণ ------The Declaration Of Mawlayat Or Walayat At Hajj----- ------(Khatemun Nbuwat and completion of Islam)---- -------(Oath Of Allegiance (Bayath) At Hajj)--- আমাদের প্রিয় নবী (স) হজের শেষে, উনার এহরাম ত্যাগ না করে রনা দিলেন মদিনার দিকে এবং অপেক্ষা করতে থাকলেন অহি নাজিল হবে বলে, এবং কিছুদুর জাওয়ার পর একটা জলাসয় এর নিকট জাওয়ার পরই ৫ঃ৬৭ নং আয়াত নাজিল হল। The Declaration Of Mawlayat Or Walayat At Hajj The date of this event was the 18th of Dhul-Hijjah of the year 10 AH (10 March 632 CE). After completing his last pilgrimage (Hajjatul-Wada), Prophet Muhammad [S.A] was leaving Makkah toward Madinah, where he and the crowd of people reached a place called Ghadir Khumm (which is close to todays al-Juhfah.), he did not take off his Ihram, expecting verses from Allah, then following verse of the Quran was revealed: O Apostle! Deliver what has been sent down to you from your Lord; and if you dont do it, you have not delivered His message (at all); and Allah will protect you from the people ... (Quran 5:67) The last sentence in the above verse indicates that the Prophet Muhammad [S.A] was mindful of the reaction of his people in delivering that message but Allah informs him not to worry, for He will protect His Messenger from people. Upon receiving the verse, the Prophet Mohammad [S.A] stopped on that place (the pond of Khumm). Then he sent for all people who have been ahead in the way, to come back and waited until all pilgrims who fell behind, arrived and gathered. He ordered Salman [r] to use rocks and camel tooling to make a pulpit (minbar) so he could make his announcement. The Messenger of Allah [s] recited verses from The Glorious Quran, and reminded and warned people of their deeds and future. Then he gave them a long speech. The following is a part of his speech which has been widely narrated by the traditionists: The Messenger of Allah [s] declared: It seems the time approached when I shall be called away (by Allah) and I shall answer that call. I am leaving for you two precious things and if you adhere to them both, you will never go astray after me. They are the Book of Allah and my Progeny, that is my Ahlul Bayt. The two shall never separate from each other until they come to me by the Pool (of Paradise). Then the Messenger of Allah, Mohammad (S.A) continued and says : Do I not have more right over the believers than what they have over themselves? People cried and answered: Yes, O Messenger of ALLAH. Then Prophet [s] held up the hand of Ali and said: For whoever I am his Leader (mawla), Ali is his Leader (mawla). [In some narrations the word used was wali rather than mawla - with the same implication] The Prophet Mohammad [S.A] continued: O God, love those who love him, and be hostile to those who are hostile to him. These were the key parts of the speech of the Prophet Mohammad [S.A]. There are also more detailed versions of this sermon which are recorded by many authorities. Immediately after the Prophet Mohammad [S.A] finished his speech, the following verse of the Quran was revealed: Today I have perfected your religion and completed my favour upon you, and I was satisfied that Islam be your religion. (Quran 5:3) After his speech, the Messenger of Allah [s] asked everybody to give the oath of allegiance to Ali [a] and congratulate him. Among those who did so was Umar b. al-Khattab, who said: Well done Ibn Abi Talib! Today you became the Leader (mawla) of all believing men and women. Allah ordered His Prophet [s] to inform the people of this designation at a time of crowded populous so that all could become the narrators of the tradition, while they exceeded a hundred thousand. Narrated by Zayd b. Arqam: Abu al-Tufayl said: I heard it from the Messenger of Allah [s], and there was no one (there) except that he saw him with his eyes and heard him with his ears. Some commentators further report that the first three verses of the chapter of al-Maarij (70:1-3) were revealed when a dispute arose after the Prophet [s] reached Madinah. It is recorded that: On the day of Ghadir the Messenger of Allah summoned the people toward Ali and said: Ali is the mawla of whom I am mawla. The news spread quickly all over urban and rural areas. When Harith Ibn Numan al-Fahri (or Nadhr Ibn Harith according to another tradition) came to know of it, he rode his camel and came to Madinah and went to the Messenger of Allah [s] and said to him: You commanded us to testify that there is no deity but Allah and that you are the Messenger of Allah. We obeyed you. You ordered us to perform the prayers five times a day and we obeyed. You ordered us to observe fasts during the month of Ramadhan and we obeyed. Then you commanded us to offer pilgrimage to Makkah and we obeyed. But you are not satisfied with all this and you raised your cousin by your hand and imposed him upon us as our master by saying `Ali is the mawla of whom I am mawla. Is this imposition from Allah or from you? The Prophet [s] said : By Allah who is the only deity! This is from Allah, the Mighty and the Glorious. On hearing this Harith turned back and proceeded towards his she-camel saying: O Allah! If what Muhammad said is correct then fling on us a stone from the sky and subject us to severe pain and torture. He had not reached his she-camel when Allah, who is above all defects, flung at him a stone which struck him on his head, penetrated his body and passed out through his lower body and left him dead. It was on this occasion that Allah, the exalted, caused to descend the following verses: A questioner questioned about the punishment to fall. For the disbelievers there is nothing to avert it, from Allah the Lord of the Ascent. (70:1-3). Oath Of Allegiance (Bayath) At Hajj Taking Oath of Allegiance is important part in Islam, As a mawla Prophet Muhammad (S.A) time to time seek oath of allegiance (Bayath) from momeens amd momenas by order of following verses. “Surely those who swear allegiance to you do but swear allegiance to Allah; the hand of Allah is above their hands. Therefore whoever breaks , he breaks it only to the injury of his own soul, and whoever fulfills what he has covenanted with Allah, He will grant him a mighty reward.” --(48:10) “O Prophet! when believing women come to you giving you a pledge that they will not associate aught with Allah, and will not steal, and will not commit fornication, and will not kill their children, and will not bring a calumny which they have forged of themselves, and will not disobey you in what is good, accept their pledge, and ask forgiveness for them from Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful”- (6:12)-. The above verses are for believers only i.e those who are already in Islam means momeens or momenas, this oath is not for non believers or want to enter newly in Islam. Same as after hajj, Prophet Muhammad (S.A) declared Ali (r.a) as Mawla after him and made arrangement for people in Islam and Hajji’s to take Oath of allegiance (bayath), and seal down or closed down the coming of Prophets, as a result thousands of Hajj’s took Oath of allegiance (Bayath) by the hand of Ali (R.A) including Hazrat Omar, which could be found from various Hadith including above ones. Now why giving pledge and taking oath of allegiance (Bayath) by the hand of Mawla is vital, could be found from the following verses and hadith. “O you who believe! When you (want to) consult the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) in Secret, put something in front of him of charity before your private consultation. That will be better and purer for you-. But if you are unable, then verily, Allâh is Often-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Are you unable of spending in charity before your Secret consultation (with him)? If then you do it not, and Allâh has forgiven you, then perform As-Salât and give Zakât and obey. And Allâh is All-Aware of what you do” ”-- (58:12-13) Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquillity upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest And much war booty which they will take. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.---(48: 18-19) Check a hadith in Mishkat Shareef . It is brought as sahi to Mishkath Shareef from Bukhari. And Muslim. Shareef. In kitabul Iman of bab-ezakat. and there is another hadith in bab-e-hidayat. Nabi has taken the bayat . Rewayat from Obadat Ibne Samet. Rasool said in a big majlish, making mukhateb to all Ashab that “ you all become murid to me and accept those words. Do not do any think sharik to Allah, do not steal and do not do jinah. Do not kill own farzand, never false blame by hand, leg and mouth, never do nafarmani and in the work of deen remain tabedar and fulfill the commitments, then you will get something good in return from Allah. Who will not obey those words, he will be then in Azab in this world, then that thing will be his kaf’fara obviously. And from among those deeds, if somebody do such deeds , after that if pak zath hide them, then this will be under the jurisdiction of Allah, may be He do pardon or may be He will give azab. I also become murid by those words. Obayed Ibne Samet did the rewayet * In Bukhari and Muslim has also given the same rewayet. There is another Hadith in this connection. Rewayet by Amro Ibne Aset. He says I went to Nabi regarding Bayat. I asked nabi, forward your right hand. I came to you to become murid now. Nabi forwarded his right hand, then I pull my hand off. Then Nabi said, what happened to you, then I replied, I will do but I have some conditions. Nabi asked what are the conditions. I asked, does my Gunah will be pardoned. Nabi replied, do you not know those words, as you enter Islam, all the khatas before hizrat will be erased, the goonah before hajj will also erases and will nothing left. There is another hadith on Bhukhari Shareef in chapter 353 named Salat Kayem and taking bayat, hadith number 499, described by Jarir Ibne Abdullah. He said I took bayat by the hand of Rasoolullah (S.A) on to establish salat (Akemus salat) and to come to purification ( A-tus zakat) and conveying it to all momeens. Here if Akimus Salata and Atus Zakata would our regular five time prayer and roza of Ramadan then why Jarir Ibne Abdullah would had to take Bayat by the hand of Rasoolullah (S.A) specially, the rules and process of five time prayer and fasting was known to everybody and it is open for all believers, he do not need to. But this Akimus Salata and Atus Zakat is a secret knowledge, only taught through Bayat, for that reason Jarir has to take Bayat by the hand of Rasoolullah (S.A) to learn those. For that same reason every believing men and women, must take Bayat. So taking Bayat by the hand of a representative of Rasool Allah (S.A) is vital, which is a order or teaching of Hajj. Believing men and women were taking bayat by the hand of Rasoolullah (S.A) during his life time but by the farewell Hajj, Rasoolullah introduced and continued this Bayat system through his representatives to establish Salat (Akimus Salat) and to come to purifications (Atus Zakat) and remembering Allah. Those three things are the important part of Hajj too, without doing appropriately those things, one’s Hajj will not be correct. Above verses and hadith indicates that to learn those three things. Taking Bayat by the hand of representative of Rasool Allah (S.A) is required and important for evey momeens amd monenas.
