మునిసిపల్ ఎన్నికల ఫలితాలు వెల్లదించవద్దు అని EC కి చెప్పిన TDP -March 6,2014 [Parties: Hold back civic poll results Hyderabad: Political parties in the state which are heading for a bitter electoral fight have reached unanimity on one issue: They want the results of March 30 urban local bodies to be withheld. At the all-party meeting convened by Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal here, the parties urged the Election Commission to order the State Election Commission not to declare results for the municipal polls till the general elections are complete. The CEO informed the parties that he would bring the matter to the notice of the Election Commission. State election commissioner P. Ramakanth Reddy has made it clear that the SEC is an autonomous institution and it can hold polls and declare results. Dr K. Laxman (BJP), Y. Venkateswara Rao (CPM), B. Kamalaker Rao (Congress), Prof. M. Srinivas Reddy (TRS) and K. Ravindra Kumar (Telugu Desam) attended the meeting. Parties like the YSRC and the CPI, which are not recognized parties, were not invited. The polls to municipalities and municipal corporations cover nearly half the 294 Assembly constituencies, and their outcome would indicate the pulse of the urban voter a month before the general elections, the parties contend. This would be as good as a pre-poll survey, they said. deccanchronicle/140306/nation-current-affairs/article/parties-hold-back-civic-poll-results]
