The five-day event hopes to help Vietnamese businesses expand their distribution network in Vientiane and pave the way for entry of goods to Thailands northeastern region. Lao Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Siaosavath Savengseuksa and Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Cam Tu were among guests who attended the expos opening ceremony. About 100 Vietnamese enterprises are showcasing their products at some 120 booths at the expo. This years fair is bigger than in previous years and features agro-forestry-fishery products, garments, electrical and electronic appliances, industrial machinery, medical equipment and tourism services. Vietnam and Lao business insiders will have opportunity to exchange experiences, transfer technology and build a closer partnership. Trade turnover between the two countries in the first six months of the year stood at US$766 million. Two-way trade hit US$1 billion last year.
