(영문 번역은 숭문고 장하영 선생님이 해주셨습니다. 감사합니다. 미스 엔젤! *^^*) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ’책따세(Chaekttase)’-지식의 나눔과 사랑의 더함 Chaekttase – Sharing Knowledge with Love 책/따/세(책으로 따뜻한 세상 만드는 교사들)는 독서의 중요성에 깊이 공감하고 독서를 북돋으려 노력하는 청소년 독서문화 시민단체입니다. 몇몇 교사들이 1998년에 모여서 시작했고, 지금은 일반인도 활동하는 비영리 사단법인입니다. 팔십 명 정도가 정회원이며, 30명 정도가 운영진으로 매주 정기적으로 만나서 활동하고 있습니다. 인터넷 회원은 6만여 명이 넘습니다. Chaekttase (Teachers who make a “warm” world through books) is a cultural reading organization for teenagers to realize the importance of reading. We started with few teachers in 1998, but now we have even an ordinary person working in our nonprofit organization. Around 80 people are full-time members and approximately 30 are managerial staffs who meet during the week regularly to work. Moreover, we have more than 60,000 online members. 처음에는 학교도서관 중심의 독서교육에 몰두하다가 최근에는 읽기•쓰기 문화의 확산과 심화에 주력하고 있습니다. 특히 정보화 시대에 걸맞은 새로운 패러다임의 시도들을 다양하게 실천하며 그 성과를 자유롭게 나누고자 노력하고 있습니다. At the beginning, our sole focus was on school library and reading education, but we recently developed and intensified our work in reading and writing culture. In this technological/informational society, we are opened and willing to try various things to fit in the new paradigm. 청소년을 위한 전문 도서관인 푸른도서관 구축, 저작권 기부운동(Copygift!: Open your Book! Open your Mind!), 독서자원봉사학교, 독서방송, 전국 독서교육 교사연수, 책따세 북카페, 책따세 NIE 등이 그러한 사례들입니다. The following are some of the exampled outcomes of our work: “PooLeun” library for teenagers, a copyright charity called “Copygift: Open Your Book! Open Your Mind!”, reading volunteer school, reading station, national reading-education training for teachers, Chaekttase book café, Chaekttase NIE, and etc. 구체적으로, 2012년에는 한국과학창의재단과 연계하여 세 가지 프로젝트를 수행하였습니다. 독서 멘토링(Reading Mentoring), 책쓰기 프로그램(Writing Book!), 저작권 기부(Copygift! 등의 사업이 바로 그것입니다. To be more specific, in 2012 we collaborated three different projects with the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity: Reading Mentor, Write Books, and Copyright donations. 이를 통하여 청소년 독자들이 자신의 고민을 전문가와 상담하여 해답을 구하고 책을 가까이 하는 길을 찾았습니다. 또한 청소년 독자들은 자신만의 재능과 적성, 능력 등에 기반하여 책을 쓸 수 있는 경험을 하였습니다. 나아가 한국과학창의재단이 기부한 약 8천여 권의 우수 과학서들을 읽고 글과 사진, UCC 등 다양한 독후 활동물을 저작권 기부 사이트(copygift.org) 에 올려 누구나 쓸 수 있게 하였습니다. Through these projects, young readers were able to share their concerns with the professionals who mentored them while learning to enjoy books. Moreover, it provided experiences for the readers to show and find their talents. And about 8,000 science books that were given by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity allowed any students to upload their writings, photographs, videos, and etc. on the copyright charity website (copygift.org). 책/따/세는 최근 책/따/세 독서카페를 만들어 읽기•쓰기 문화를 확산하고 심화하는 책/따/세 카페 네트워크를 만들고자 노력하고 있습니다. 책/따/세 독서 카페에 오면 누구나 책/따/세가 개발하는 모든 읽기•쓰기 관련 자료들을 자유롭게 접할 수 있으며, 청소년이 자발성과 다양성, 공익성이라는 축에서 독서하게 만드는 다양한 경험과 정보, 네트워크를 얻을 수 있습니다. Chaekttase’s book café was opened to improve and develop the culture of reading and writing, and we are working to make it better. Anyone who comes to our café has the opportunity to enjoy all the reading and writing materials, expand and widen one’s experience through reading, and provide meaningful information and network. 이러한 책/따/세의 노력은 그저 주어진 텍스트의 의미를 정확하게 독해하는 데 머무는 종래의 닫힌 독서교육에서 벗어나, 청소년이 자신의 상황을 정확히 파악하고 이를 토대로 자신의 재능과 적성, 능력에 기반한 책의 저자가 되게 만들고, 그 성과를 남을 위하여 나눔으로써, 독서의 진정한 의미를 깨닫게 만들자는 책따세의 철학과 직결됩니다. 읽기와 쓰기를 통한 자신의 발견과 성장, 그리고 기부 – 이것이 책/따/세가 추구하는 진정한 독서의 의미, 곧 “지식의 나눔과 사랑의 더함”입니다. Chaettase’s effort does not stop at simply understanding the context and the meaning of the literature. We want to enhance our program philosophically to support teenagers to find themselves by locating their talents, interests, and capacities through reading, writing, and giving; in hopes that one day their fruit of success could be shared with others.
