---Handa ka na bang mangibang bansa? PLS READ... PATUNAY LANG NA MAHIRAP SA IBANG BANSA Hindi ako makapaniwala na nakapagtrabaho na ako sa Middle East. It all started when I took up Nursing as a second course. It was during the time when there was an overpopulation of Nurses in the Philippines at walang makuha na trabaho sa Pilipinas, unless gusto mo mag-work as a Volunteer Nurse. You might find it shallow, pero dahil I want to experience working as a paid Nurse, I wondered if I can work in the Middle East as a Private Nurse. Mahirap kasi pag wala kang paid working experience. Sad to say, I didn’t do enough research to prepare myself before working there. If you are going to work in a house, hindi pala maganda because you are going to be all around. I found about it when I was already there. I had the shock of my life. Anyway, I was able to stay in Abu Dhabi, UAE only for two months. I was lucky enough to have the resources to go home. I must admit, I didn’t like it there because I was so disappointed. I had so many frustrations there. I didn’t know that they are going to make you do things beyond your job function. But the good thing is, it opened my eyes to a lot of things. I had a closer view on how it is to be an OFW. I know that they had to do a lot of sacrifices for their families. I salute all the OFW’s in the world because it is difficult, yet they withstand all the obstacles that goes with it. • The government says that if are going to work in the Middle East there should be no placement fee. • Pag sinabi nila na you are going to work in a house, it means kasama na dun ang pagiging all around. It doesn’t matter if you are a private nurse, caregiver or private tutor. Expect experiencing the work of a domestic helper. • The contract that they show you here is a generic contract. Parang bio-data that they just fill up. It doesn’t look formal at all, and the funny thing is, they don’t give the information as to where the exact location of your job would be. They just give you the address of the Agency there. • Because they are Muslims, expect that you will be covered even inside the house. Parang may costume ka ba. If you are not a Muslim, mapapagod ka sa pagbibihis pa lamang. • Since you are not going to earn that much in the Middle East, iwasan ang tumawag ng madalas sa Pilipinas, mauubos ang pera mo. • Having a SIM there is pahirapan. • Expect hard labor here and not a good time. • Be humble and you have to learn to let go of your ego. Siyempre, they tend to treat you here like second-class citizens, so if they see that you’re proud and want to have things your way, that could be a problem. • Be prepared to use all your skills. They want someone who is like a jack of all trades. Kung baga sa pagkain, they want more value for their money. Parang value meal. • Be street-smart and wise. You should learn to survive. Survive the working conditions, the gossip, the envy, and learn how to stand up for yourself without offending other people. • Employers can always cancel your contract anytime. So if they see you becoming a liability, they can fire you anytime. • Have pocket money, all the times. Your employer doesn’t have to know. You’ll never know when you’ll need one, especially during emergencies. • Lastly, never go to the Middle East to work as a household service worker, kung maiiwasan naman. Go there only when you really need to because of financial problems.Avoid going there if you can. It is survival of the fittest. You can be exposed to a lot of dangers.
