-The thumbs down continues- I posted last week about a lady wearing a white hat who continually walks her pitbull off its leash in the ballarat east area. So for all those who commented I would like to give you an update. I spoke to the lady the next day when her dog ran into my yard as she was walking her dog once again unleashed and yes she confirmed it is a pitbull. Her attitude towards my concerns about her decision to walking her dog were very rude and arrogant. She says she trusts her dog to listen to her commands and if her dog was to attack another animal or even a worse a child were very unlikely, stating that it would be the other animals or child’s fault for provoking her dog and I should mind my own business as it is her right to walk her dog off the leash. I told her about how it was illegal to walk a dog unleashed, even pointing to the sign on the walking path showing its against the law to walk a dog off its leash in the area and if she was to still do it I suggested that she was to muzzled her dog she would be taking measures to prevent any incidents happening. She then started to abuse me for having concerns at which point a neighbour came out and also expressed his concerns about the animal being unleashed while she was walking. The lady then had one final abusive go at the both of us before carrying on with her walk. After she had left my neighbour who has being living in the area longer then I have told me that he has had run ins with this women a couple of time and the dog has actually attacked an elderly man while he was gardening a couple of years earlier which the owner brushed off as the animal being playful and getting to excited. So I would like to say massive thumbs down to this woman. The next time I see you or my neighbour sees you walking your dog off its leash we will be informing the ranger. It does not matter that your dog is a pitbull or a mini foxy, the breed has nothing to do with it. You are putting not only your dog’s life at risk because your animal seems to have very little road sense but other animals and peoples wellbeing at risk by walking your dog of its leash. It is very disappointing to see such a beautiful animal owned by someone with such a poor attitude towards the animal’s safety. -Allison
