017.004 And We decreed for the Children of Israel in the Book: Surely you will cause corruption (fasaad) in the earth twice, and surely you will reach great haughtiness / become great tyrants / behave insolently 017.005 So when the time for the first of the two came, We raised against you servants of Ours those of great military might / great strength and they entered the inner most part of the homes (and ravaged you), and it was a promise / threat performed. 017.006 Then we gave you once again your turn against them / let you prevail against them again, and We reinforced you with WEALTH and CHILDREN and made you MORE numerous 017.007 (Saying): If you do good, you do good for your own souls, and if you do evil, it is for them (in like manner). So, when the time for the last threat / promise came (We raised against you others of Our slaves) to ravage you, and to enter the Temple just as they had entered it the previous time and to destroy / utterly lay waste all that they conquered with an utter wasting / destruction 017.008 It MAY BE that your Lord will have mercy on you. BUT IF YOU RETURN (REPEAT THE CRIME), WE SHALL RETURN / (REPEAT THE PUNISHMENT), and We have made Hell, for the disbelievers a prison-bed / dungeon No nation can (ever) outstrip its term or yet postpone it (23:43)
