08. 11 . 13 A revisit: 18. 10 . 13 The First Contemporary Socialism for Ghanas U Turn #Interesting illusions! Building Ghana - if we are indeed SERIOUS - could start from a HUGE FULL STOP FROM TODAY. First, we have to CEASE and revert from the way we are going and collectively or with a winning team or group resolve and WILL to turn things around. Then, we got to gather ALL monies dished out frivolously this way - Woyome, Rlg etc. Next, we got to lay a solid national foundation, framework, infrastructure tailored to our specific needs. We would purge the system of such policies and doings that harm Ghana more than help us. For example, all those contracts that give Ghana such low percentage ownership in natural resource - laden enterprises would be re-examined. Ways would be found to increase our holdings in all to minimum of 50 % to start with. I know that for now, our long history of mixed national exploitation and experimentation has left us a weak, corrupt, half-functional nation. And, the individual Ghanaian involved in serious national work is so generally fraudulent, corrupt apparently NOTHING AT THE LEVEL WE ARE GOING WOULD SPEED OUR DEVELOPMENT. Ghanas growth is thus naturally bound to be SLOW just the way people NATURALLY AGE as the clock ticks unless we DECIDE TO CHANGE, GET A PROPER PLAN IN PLACE, GET THE MINDS TO MOVE IT, HAVE IN PLACE SAFE, STANDARDISED MONITORY MECHANISM; ACCEPT COLLECTIVELY AS A PEOPLE TO GET IT DONE! Even then, we ought to keep at the back of our minds that headaches would confront us. We got to be mentally prepared for surprises as we move on. For example, if I had been President ( I NEVER would be, DO NOT DESIRE TO BE and wont enter ANY PUBLIC POLITICAL business in our current system ), I would have concentrated on building roads befitting all our towns and cities to start with. I would get our homes numbered and properly designated. I would start right from Korle Gonno where the layout is already AVAILABLE. And, a proper NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM would be in place to aid national policy decisions. I would not for instance build any stadium for any AFCON or CAF as was done! Why dish money out to ENTERTAINMENT when serious necessities await? Of course while at it, I would ensure that Ghanaians own the Banks, telcos, and other essential assets in this country. There would be legislation to back this, of course. The national principle would be that it pays to be the owner than an employer. So, workable ways would be found to ensure Ghana and Ghanaians own ALL that yield the best profits in the land that is originally ours or should be ours! The oil, Mining firms, Vodafon among others would be TAKEN FIRST via a negotiated settlement. The people would be told the best means is to create than wait and look in the air for government . Ghanaians are greatly content with the little they have. So they SHALL be told the truth and be given measurably enough per each stage. Those ruling would practically LIVE WHAT THEY PREACH OR FACE THE FULL RIGOURS OF THE STATE CORRECTIONAL APPARATUS! Government would be strengthened to provide the muscle for private Ghanaian growth. Money? Easy! Added to generated funds from an improved system including a more fairly and reasonably expanded taxation and revenue collection, if we put the monies we steal from government, the cuts we get from loans and grants, the monies we dish out to cronies so we get cuts etc together, we could do two things: Part of such monies could be used to start while the other is invested for good returns. We got Ken Offori - Atta and Kelly Gadzekpo of Data Bank and other serious Ghanaians to show us how it is done. We could even ask Britain to send Kweku Adoboli to a Ghanaian jail so we use his skills and mind to make money for a specially - created national bank when push comes to shove. This should be easy. The United Kingdom OWES Ghana so much for the pillage during colonialism. We could forgive that and have a deal that would ensure Ghanaians stay at home and help build than RUSH out to a SATURATED UK SYSTEM to go scavange and compete for limited resources including the NHS. This would complement Britains efforts at fighting ( illegal ) immigration into the UK. Actually, there IS no problem here with money. Indeed, Ghana can BORROW so much from MORE MALLEABLE international lenders if we work things out right. We could ditch the Bretton Woods World Bank, IMF and deal with the Chinese and others for instance. After all, almighty America owes over 16 trillions with over a trillion owned China alone. Ghana can borrow far less and just the right amount for work by Ghanaians to move the country, if we ACTUALLY NEED TO. Worse, we can tell Nigerias Dangote to come sit and talk. For his octopusi arms here, a deal would be struck for a good INFLOW OF HIS WEALTH for Ghanas economical healing in such terms that he and Ghana would mutually benefit. Such synergism, devoid of more PROFIT - FOR - FOREIGNER - DRIVEN mind, would be encouraged. We would do a NO capitalist consultant policy! Everyone would be told, we are in the BUILDING YEARS. So, we aint gonna live as if everything is FINE because everything aint fine in Ghana. We would do most things our way unless THE ONLY WAY IS TO LOOK OUTSIDE. In this regard, our black stars by law would have a Ghanaian coach ONLY. Non disciplined, non -committed players who fake injury would be ditched. We would focus on building a clean local team worth whatever it is worth. Seriousness and professionalism would be key. The theme here is that sports is entertainment and when we seek to make money out of it, we must NOT LOSE unwisely. Foundation and infrastructure somewhat / halfway done with focus on making the best out of our existing workforce and production folks while ensuring they get properly remunerated according to our situation, I would get that massive policy of getting everyone else or majority educated rightly in place. Here, I do not mean FREE. Because, that is not anything frankly doable or REALISTIC in our circumstances. Individuals would be empowered via suitable schemes and policies to pursue their potentials and such would be ACTIVELY TAUGHT TO SHARE and pull others along while creating varied substrata of developing groups in the society. The KNOWLEDGE OF SHARING AND PULLING OTHERS ALONG would be an entire educational course in ALL our schools! It would be called the NATIONAL PROSPERITY PATH taught to our kids from Primary FOUR! It SHALL be compulsory from P 4 up to Junior High School level. Just like Science or General Arts at the Senior High School, it shall be a whole course pursuable / readable by a select group at SHS and University level. Only the BULK ( 80 % ) OF THIS GROUP would be allowed to hold FUTURE political positions. By ten years time, 10 % would become office holders with the quota gradually increased by 5 percent every other two years. This also shall become a statutory constitutional requirement. The systems would be overhauled starting with the security services. Their disciplined nature would be reinforced and values retained. The judiciary would become a useful tool to fight corruption. The security services would have as main target the GOAL TO BRING CORRUPT persons to justice. That would become law post a parliamentary legislation. Being aware that just about everyone but few is corrupt, an entire division of the Ghanas military for instance would be devoted to creation of punitive systems for corruption. This would handle intelligence gathering on corruption, prison ( for incarceration and reformation with programmes for skill acquisition per individual prisoner; it would be constitutionally mandatory to become skilled and make money for the state while in prison - the minimum being a reasonable amount to pay five citizens monthly ) construction in all regions for convicts, and a security corruption - civil profit making unit, SCU, tasked with money making SOLELY for the agency. Parallel units would exist in the Ghana police service. Individual members would be specially selected and groomed for such purpose. Targets would be set and a monitoring mechanism to assess prognosis firmly put in place. With an educational unit devoted to teaching how to govern, create wealth and share in place, a 10 - 15 year period would produce our first graduates nationwide from first degree levels. From Junior High School, JHS, levels these would have a mandatory national service programme till university where every vacation, they would be sent around the nation to voluntarily have exchanges with other Ghanaians. An elderly ( above 18 years ) from a childs family would be paid by the state to shepherd the kids. There would be other measures suited to Ghanas problems. We would generally have found the requisite human resource, get a targeted plan going, source and create wealth and get institutions in place for the forward march. By 2023 - 2028, we should have a dedicated group of young Ghanaians who would become the bedrock for LIFTING Ghana from the foundational level to a transformed state. The rate of technological advancement would be utilised by sane, Ghana-loving, less corrupt persons WHO KNOWS AND ELECT VOLUNTARILY TO WORK HARD AND GIVE MONEY TO THE STATE AND BE REWARDED APPROPRIATELY. By now, our people would have generally be taught how to study for certificates but most IMPORTANTLY BE TAUGHT PRACTICAL WEALTH CREATION METHODS SUITABLE TO OUR SITUATION AND BEST LIFE PRACTICES. There is going to be a wide range of reforms which collectively should give a Ghana far BETTER THAN it would be if we go at the rate we are presently. By then, I would have served my term and have two other similarly - minded Presidents take over from me. I could then with a peaceful mind sit at my beach home and drink with friends at sunset while reminiscing our democratic LEAP! Alas! That is a huge ILLUSION. It is the starting ground though; modifications and additions would be made from the fine Ghanaian minds. Back to reality and staying with the status quo, let me ask so HOW IS THE MONEY GOING TO BE COLLECTED? Recall similar monies aint reverted to the state up to date!
