08 Aug 2013 7:30:00 PM The 22-year-old Billiat was given an ultimatum at the beginning of the week to decide if he wants to stay with the Urban Warriors or move to a Gauteng club Ajax Cape Town director Ari Efstathiou has confirmed that Khama Billiat will be joining Mamelodi Sundowns during the current transfer window. Speaking on Metro FM on Thursday night, Efstathiou revealed that Eleazar Rodgers will be returning to Cape Town to join Ajax on loan as part of the deal. “What is outstanding is that the player needs to settle his terms, but the club has now reached the agreement and Khama is moving to Mamelodi Sundowns,” said Efstathiou. Efstathiou revealed that choosing Sundowns over other clubs was not purely about money, as he said they also needed a player that will fill the void left by Billiat. “It was not necessarily money. There was also an exchange of a player. Eleazar Rodgers is coming back to Cape Town. He’s coming on a loan to us. We needed a bit of a help on a striking force,” said Efstathiou. Efstathiou confirmed that several local clubs including Pirates were also interested in Khama, but he added that Sundowns reacted showed more determination to sign the player. “There was lots of clubs. Local ones and overseas clubs were looking at it and unfortunately Sundowns were the quickest,” added Efstathiou.
