09th August 2014 Is there a relation between the decision of Ministry of Education and the pro-Israel attitudes of “Vitrina” University? Opinion Çerçiz Loloçi The recent decision of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MES) that was finalized by the Council of Ministers (No. 123, Dated August 7, 2014) to revoke the license of several higher education institutions, including “Vitrina” University, while it seems to be right for some people, it results to be unfair, prejudiced, unmotivated and unsupported by facts pertaining to the institution. The conclusion of the Audit report of Ministry of Education highlighted as a reprimand for “Vitrina” University as there are accepted students who paid by exchange contracts “klering” and in some University environment there are used wood stoves, but these are not illegal and does not affect the operation of its contents. In this report there is no evidence for even a few elements of a sustainable institution monitoring as it can be: -Students attending lecturers and seminars. It may be the only one among public and private institutions that there is a high scale of attendance at lectures and seminars. - The level of professionals. Under the relevant law on higher education, the academic staff and teachers has been conform the law and conform the instructions of the department of Education. - The report between the numbers of teachers with students is also within standards. - Spaces standard (as defined in the law) lecture halls, other areas of campus, etc. - Fake Degrees. There isn’t even a single case that a person enrolled at the University have managed to get one, just as there may happened to the other institutions, reported by local and foreign press. Once we have the facts listed above, it should also be said that the university has been the most transparent one as there have been invited hundreds of Albanian and foreign personalities, including the diplomatic representatives accredited in Albania. In addition it must be said that the university has had a civic commitment, as referring to the bloody conflict between Israel and Gaza where Vitrina University is publicly ranked pro-Israel as it has also happened with Euro-Atlantic attitudes toward this matter. Due to this, Vitrina University has been threatened by terrorists’ groups and perhaps there would have been a great effect toward the decision-making for Vitrina University. There is no secret to point out the impact of the Turkish state policy in our country, as there is no secret to reaffirm the unfair attitudes of the official Ankara against Israel. There are rumors that what weigh more are these outside-institutional arguments than facts pertain to the license revocation toward “Vitrina” University.
